This workshop will discuss the differences between root and branch treatments, a model for root
treatment as a form of regulation therapy that helps lead the patients back to a healthier state where
they heal themselves. The workshop will present a model for understanding this and teach some basic
treatment methods following Japanese acupuncture models that are explicit in their approach. It will
also discuss how many forms of symptom control treatment are methods of provoking or stimulating
the body to respond so as to trigger a change in the symptoms rather than enhance global natural
healing processes. It will discuss, give guidelines and demonstrate the use of various needle and
moxa techniques. The workshop will include demonstrations and some hands-on practice of various
techniques.
